1-3 Full MEs
Carbonite Ultra packs major effects and keying power into its main ME buses.
Each ME has 4 powerful keyers with luma, linear, chroma and DVE key types – as well as an additional 5th hidden keyer for animated MediaWipe and DVE transitions. Each ME also provides a clean feed output, along with 2 advanced pattern generators for wipes, pattern masks and color washes.
Carbonite Ultra also uses a floating architecture for chroma keying and DVEs. Any ME or MiniME in the system can access the 4 UltraChrome chroma keyers and 8 floating DVEs at any time.
Carbonite Ultra can be configured with 1,2 or 3 SD/HD MEs via software licenses. UHD operation requires a minimum of 2x SD/HD MEs to enable 1 UHD ME and the 3rd SD/HD ME enables 2 ME UHD operation. In UHD mode, 2 UHD MiniMEs are always available regardless of configuration.
4 MiniMEs
MiniMEs are free-floating operational devices within the production switcher architecture that do not reside in a fixed position in the signal flow, making them a great choice for additional dissolves and key layers.
Carbonite contains 4 MiniME effects modules that include an independent Mixer, 2 full-function keyers and Preview bus. These MiniMEs reside in a resource pool to be used anywhere in the system for additional dissolves and key layers, which are immediately released as soon as the transition or effect is complete.
MiniMEs are also the foundation of Carbonite Ultra’s MultiScreen Canvas mode, which allows display of video content across up to 4 screen displays, or for scaling of video across a single large display. This makes Carbonite Ultra perfect for IMAG applications and Live Event productions that are in need of screen processing with minimum delay.
Macros & Memories
An intelligent memory system and timeline macros can reduce the most complex events down to a single button push.
The combination of macro event management with timelines. Fast, powerful & editable macros that can do almost anything. Record events, recalls, pauses, holds and control devices directly from a Carbonite Black panel or DashBoard GUI.
Carbonite Ultra’s powerful and truly intelligent memory management system allows stored keys and backgrounds to be recalled to preview without disturbing what is on-air. This system enables multiple scenes to be stored and recalled in a manner that would normally require a much larger multi-ME switcher.
Media Playback
For still & animated media, there are 4 fully-independent MediaStores. Say goodbye to ganging channels, because each MediaStore is now fully-capable of handling key + fill media.
4 independent media player channels are available switcher-wide. Stills, logos and animated graphics can be played out from the on-board 8GB memory and can be loaded via USB storage devices. The MediaStores can also be managed directly over Ethernet via Carbonite’s browser-based MediaManager tool.
Monitoring Solution
For source and production monitoring, Carbonite Ultra provides up to 4 16-window MultiViewers, for viewing of up to 64 internal and external sources. That’s double the monitoring power of the original Carbonite series.
Carbonite Ultra can be configured with up to 4 16-window MultiViewers (up to 64 windows). Each MultiViewer has user-selectable layouts with the individual choice of border tally and UMD label display for each source. In addition, a user configurable clock can be sized and positioned anywhere on the MultiViewer screen and locked to house time code or internal reference. MultiViewer layouts are easily selected in the DashBoard control interface.
2 of Carbonite Ultra’s MultiViewers are dedicated I/O MultiViewers, each of which can be configured to view any input or output. Meanwhile, the 2 System MultiViewers can be configured to monitor any source or bus in the switcher.
Carbonite Ultra ships with 1 I/O MultiViewer & 1 System MultiViewer as standard, with an option for an additional I/O and System MultiViewer via software license.
Included Graphics

Simply install XPression LiveCG software on a network-connected computer, render graphics directly into Carbonite Ultra’s MediaStores via IP and take them to air with the push of a button.
